Mai 2024: Project “Mortar analysis”: Fieldwork

In spring 2024, the mortar samples for the project ‘Mortar analyses of archaeological monuments in the Mediterranean climate regions’, were collected. Some of the samples were made available to us by the Croatian Conservation Institute, which has been carrying out rescue excavations in Osor since 2022. The samples cover a wide time span, from the oldest Roman buildings to the city wall in from the Venetian period. In addition, mortar samples were taken from the Roman city wall in Osor and the early medieval buildings on the hilltop settlement of Sv. Lovrenc, located south of Osor.
