December 2023: Histri in Istria

On December 14, 2023, an international exhibition was opened at the Museum of Antiquities “J. J. Winckelmann” in Trieste. The exhibition was created through the collaboration of the Archaeological Museum of Istria in Pula and the University of Primorska, Faculty of Humanities, and was authored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Martina Blečić Kavur. The Histri in Istriaa brings the history, customs, and attire of the history closer to the public—a people who left a lasting mark on all the inhabitants of Istria, dominating the peninsula from the 13th century BCE until the final Roman conquest in 177 BCE. The Histri are also presented within narrower and broader cultural contacts of the region and the Mediterranean, particularly in the context of North Adriatic cultural manifestations.
