November 2024: The Heroic Age of the Histri

On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the international exhibition The Heroic Age of the Histri was opened at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. Created in collaboration between the Archaeological Museum of Istria in Pula and the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this marks the first time that the Histri have had the opportunity to be showcased in this country.

Following its presentations in nearby Trieste and distant Skopje, the international exhibition The Heroic Age of the Histri has now opened its doors in Sarajevo, at the oldest museum institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is the third and final exhibition outside of Istria by its author, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Martina Blečić Kavur from the Department and Institute of Archaeology and Heritage at the University of Primorska, Faculty of Humanities.

At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Dr. Mirsad Sijarić, Director of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Darko Komšo, Director of the Archaeological Museum of Istria in Pula; and the exhibition’s author. The event was attended by numerous curators and archaeologists, professors and students of archaeology from the University of Sarajevo, University representative Prof. Dr. Adnan Busuladžić, and Jasminka Keser, diplomat from the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
