November 2024: Guest lecture at the University of Sarajevo

On Friday, 22 November, Associate Professor Dr. Martina Blečić Kavur was a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. Her visit was part of two ARIS-funded research projects: From Sea to Sea (ARIS N6-0297) and Osor Beyond the Myth (ARIS N6-0292). The occasion marked an important opportunity for the exchange of scholarly insights among regional experts in archaeology and history, and contributed to the strengthening of international academic collaboration.

In her lecture titled Osor in the Context of Iron Age Cultural Dynamics of the Ancient World, Dr. Blečić Kavur explored the socio-cultural developments of the Adriatic during the last millennium BCE. Special focus was placed on the role of the town of Osor on the island of Cres, examining the phenomenon of islands and insularity in relation to the northern Adriatic mainland and Mediterranean civilizations to the south. The analysis was based on preserved and studied material culture, offering new perspectives on long-term regional interactions.
